CHOO YUAN YEE

Choo Yuan Yee (or YY, as he is more affectionately known), is passionate about helping students excel in their academics and unlocking their inner potential. He does so by training them in Learning Mastery and Personal Mastery through AKLTG’s Superkids™ and I Am Gifted, So Are You™ programmes locally and regionally for the past 10 years. YY’s commitment to social responsibility traces back to his undergraduate days at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Taking initiative to join Project Sankhim, a community service-learning project partnered with the Operation Hope Foundation, he led a team of peers to Prey Veng, Cambodia, where they shared with the locals knowledge in first aid, basic hygiene and science.

Once a student with mediocre results, YY applied powerful accelerated learning skills to propel himself to first position in class and top 10% in his secondary school. He became the school Mathematics quiz winner in 1997 and 1998. YY has since graduated from NUS with a degree in History and has been working with children and youths for over a decade, sharing with them the very strategies he used to achieve academic success. A firm believer in lifelong learning, YY continuously upgrades his skills so that he can impart his students with the latest learning techniques and expose them to new learning technologies. He also conducts parenting excellence workshops for parents, showing them strategies and tips in supporting their children’s education. With dynamism and passion, YY’s training style encourages his students to look beyond the books and embrace wholesome learning. Through interactive stories and games, he brings learning to an in-depth level, helping his students internalize learning points with ease.
YY has been personally trained under specialist who are at the forefront of education such as neuroscience trainer, Eric Jensen, on Brain-based Learning; TetraMap® creators, Yoshimi and Jon Brett; Cathryn Berger Kaye on 21st Century Skills; and Barbara Oakley on ‘Learning how to Learn’. In addition, YY also trained with world-renowned therapist like Cal Banyan to raise his ability to help students who are having learning challenges caused by past negative experiences. Lastly, YY was certified in rock-climbing by Miss Joanne Soo of Singapore’s First Mount Everest Team which Miss Soo was a summiteer herself.
