DAVE HONG

Dave Hong lives and breathes outdoor education. He creates outdoor experiences to inculcate values in his students beyond what they find in textbooks. He uses the outdoor as an engaging platform to spur his participants in breaking out of their comfort zones.

Dave believes in building rugged and resilient youths for the future. Since 2009, he has actively volunteered in overseas service-learning projects, where he leads youth teams on expeditions to serve overseas communities. There, he grooms youths to become self-directed leaders and coaches them on life skills to help them navigate challenges.

Fully immersing in the outdoor adventure industry, Dave has worked more than half a decade as an adventure-learning instructor. He has conducted and facilitated numerous annual local school camps, overseas camps and hiking expeditions in neighboring countries.

With his strong track record in outdoor education, Dave has developed a set of strategies to build strong rapport and camaraderie with youths and adults alike. His proficiency in both English and Mandarin helps him relate to and interact with them effectively.

Dave’s enthusiasm for the outdoor was seeded during his secondary school days, when he was appointed a Peer Leader to help his school plan and run annual level camps. This passion grew as he advanced to Republic Polytechnic, where he became President of the Kayaking Interest Group of the Adventure Learning Club. There, he organised kayaking courses for his schoolmates and took on the role of Assistant Race Director for their inaugural Adventure Race.

Outside of work, Dave challenges his limits at triathlons and adventure races. He recently conquered one of the highest peaks in Southeast Asia, Mount Kinabalu.
